Good afternoon Emerald Heights Families,
And just like that, it’s May! This weekend is looking beautiful—I hope you’re able to get outside and enjoy it. 


Here are a few updates:


📅 No School Tomorrow
Just a reminder that there is no school tomorrow, May 1st. It is a non-student day.


🌟 Staff Appreciation Week
Next week is Staff Appreciation Week! We are excited to celebrate our entire staff for all the hard work they do to support our students and one another. Our PTA has been hard at work behind the scenes planning some fun surprises—thank you, EM PTA! Be sure to check ParentSquare PTA messages if you’d like to join in and support.


🤖 Robotics Club for Kindergarten and First Grade

Calling all students in K-1! Come join our Bee Bots Robotics Club! Students will learn the engineering design process and the basics of robotics programming. 


  • When: Wednesdays @ 8:15 AM 
  • Where: Mrs. Fleck’s Class (Room 55)
  • Dates: May 6, 13, 20, 27 & June 3, 10
  • Club Capacity: Capped at 30 students.

Families, WE REQUIRE 5-6  VOLUNTEERS TO RUN  the program.  Priority for registration will be given to these 3 volunteers and their children. Please register at https://forms.gle/ZKRAXEEQAGujW2p67  🐝


📝Important!!  Next Year Enrollment
As in the past, Emerald Heights Elementary School is taking steps in helping to prepare for next year's enrollment. To help in this process, please indicate on this enrollment form whether or not your child(ren) will be returning to Emerald Heights for the 2026-27 school year. If you live in Central Kitsap and Emerald Heights Elementary is not your "home" school or you live outside of our district, please submit a "Transfer Request" found online at www.ckschools.org. If you have questions, please feel free to contact the school office at 360-662-8500.

SBA Testing for Grades 3-5

Please note there was a date error in our initial SBA letter.
Refer to the calendar below for the correct testing dates (most have not changed).

 Dear Parents/Guardians:

This spring, your student will take the Smarter Balanced tests in Math and English Language Arts. Students in 5th grade, will also take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS).

The results from these tests will give a more accurate picture of whether our students are academically on trackFollowing is the list of Smarter Balanced Assessments your child will take this year:

  ELA CAT - English/Language Arts Computer Adaptive Test
 
ELA PT - English/Language Arts Performance Task - Part  1
 
ELA PT 2 - English/Language Arts Performance Task - Part  2
 
Math CAT - Math Computer Adaptive Test  
 Math PT - Math Performance Task
 WCAS
 -  Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science -5th grade only

As noted above, there will be 2 Language Arts tests spread over 3 days and 2 Math tests spread over two days. Fifth graders will also have one additional Science test that will last 1 day.

Our testing window will begin on April 27th and run through May 29th.  If in print, please see the schedule on the back for our testing dates. If digital, please scroll down to see the schedule.To help ensure students are able to perform to the best of their ability, make sure your child is at school everyday and arrives on time.  If your child does arrive late, we will need to reschedule his/her test. Please do not schedule appointments on these days.

 Encourage your child to relax, do their best, pay close attention to directions and answer each question asked. Finally, make sure your child gets plenty of sleep before each test and has had a great breakfast!
