🐾 Therapy Dog Program

We are excited to continue participating in Central Kitsap School District’sĀ Therapy Dog Program this year! Certified therapy dog teams may visit Emerald Heights to support students’ social, emotional, and academic well-being.
Research has shown that therapy dogs in schools can promote calmness, empathy, and connection while helping reduce anxiety and build confidence. Our goals for the program include:
  • Increasing empathy and compassion
  • Helping students feel connected and reducing anxiety
  • Building confidence and self-esteem to support academic success
All therapy dogs participating in our schools are certified through recognized therapy dog organizations. They have been evaluated for a calm and reliable temperament and must meet ongoing certification, grooming, cleanliness, and veterinary requirements. Therapy dogs are always accompanied and supervised by their handlers and may visit classrooms, common areas, and playgrounds.

If you are comfortable with your child interacting with therapy dogs, you do not need to do anything.
If you do not want your child to have contact with therapy dogs during school activities, please complete our Therapy Dog Opt-Out Form

Thank you for partnering with us as we work to create a welcoming, caring, and supportive school community for all of our students.
Have a wonderful weekend! Take care!
